Gray Kunz Spoon, Hang around enough chefs and eventually on…
Hang around enough chefs and eventually one of them may mention the Gray Kunz spoon – a tool that was designed by Chef Gray Kunz of Lespinasse in New York City in the late 1990s and originally only given to chefs who worked in his kitchen. The spoon has a large bowl that holds 2.5 tablespoons of volume which is useful for everything from basting, tasting and stirring. It also has a slightly tapered edge that’s great for precision work like flipping, saucing a plate or making quenelles, and a nine inch handle that make it easy to control. $20. Available in two sizes (original shown) at Knife, 658 Queen Street W. (at Bathurst), 647-996-8609, www.knifetoronto.com.
