This is a beautiful pipe bag on brain tanned hide. Sinew sewn with porcupine quilled medallion on both sides and a quilled panel at the bottom. Probably Mandan or Arikara in origin ca. mid 1900sThe flaps at the top are dyed with ochre and add to the overall color scheme. Size:Top to bottom of fringe: 33"Quill drops: 3"Fringe: 8"Leather bag from top to bottom: 21 3/4"Width: top 6" & bottom: 7"Condition: There is some missing quill elements including on both medallions.
